Danette was born, raised, and still resides in Canada, although her heart belongs to the Caribbean.
She’s been drawing ever since she could hold a crayon (how cliché – but true!) and always knew she’d be destined for a career in the arts. Her path to children's books wasn’t direct, however, as she first dabbled in fashion arts and later graphic design. Now she realizes that storytelling is her true passion and when she’s not illustrating stories – well, she’s writing and reading stories, of course!
She also loves spending time in nature wherever possible, and getting oodles of doggie cuddles from her newfie Mumford. Danette is a Sagittarian, self-proclaimed Silly Billy, and Unicorn Enthusiast.
Working with Danette
Danette prides herself on her professionalism, work ethic, and efficiency – always completing quality projects on time. She believes in a balance of big picture ideas and small attention to details to bring a well-rounded project together. She's also very open to collaboration and recognizes how much better a project can turn out with that in mind.
